Back to School Anxiety


The holidays will certainly mix up our routines once again and the extra familiarity we all enjoy with home, may mean for some that getting back to school for term 3 will stir up a mixed bag of emotions. We are all different. Some can’t wait to get back, others don’t want to come back, and everything in-between. For those whom returning to school ignites their butterflies and resistance behaviours, there are things we can do to help support them in recognising and being okay with that anxiety or apprehension, finding their brave and having the opportunity to experience how strong and resilient they can be. As parents, we can be facilitators of this and the attached link to an article by Karen Young (author of ‘Hey Warrior’ who visited our school last year) is an excellent account of how it can play out and what we can do.
