Dear Parents & Caregivers
The following information is provided to keep families in our community fully informed of the latest development and actions Dunsborough Primary is taking in response to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic.
NOTE: While the Department of Health advises the risk of transmission in Western Australia remains low, they are monitoring the situation and we are acting on their advice to take any necessary precautions for our students and staff.
On the direction of the WA Government, the Chief Medical Officer and the WA Education Department Dunsborough Primary School is remaining open, until advised differently.
To assist our school
I am asking if all school families could please complete a very short survey on your child’s/children’s school attendance for the rest of this term and their remote learning access by clicking on the link below;
(We do apologize if you have already supplied all or some of this information to the school. This survey will, however, provide the school with a far more accurate and comprehensive record of this information than we currently have.)
As an additional measure to help our students’ with social distancing, all parents are asked to please drop their child off at the classroom door and not come in and carry out normal early morning routines of shared puzzles and books from now on.
Preparations have commenced at DPS to provide ways in which our students can continue their learning from home, should our school have to close in the future.
In the meantime, a website has been launched by the Education Department for parents called “Learning at Home” which contains a number of suggested activities and resources students can use at home to continue their learning and education. This website will be regularly updated with more activities and resources as they are developed.
Please click on the link below:
Due to larger than expected student absences occurring at the moment, a decision has been taken to cancel all school assemblies for the rest of the term. All classes however will still be given a chance to watch our normal Assembly reports by student leaders and perform the school song from their classroom.
As advised in update No 3, we are still planning for School Photos for students at our school to go ahead next week. While there will not be any group photos taken, parents will still be able to have individual photos taken of their child/children if they wish.
Please refer to the following information from Kapture Photos on school photos next week.
Any parent who has ordered a class group photo (A) we will substitute with a Class Composite. Any Classic, Variety or Smart Pack the Class Group will be substituted with a large 12 x8 print.
The website will no longer show the option of any of the above packages they will be replaced with the “My Year Pack & My Form Pack”.
If any parent wishes to cancel their order for a refund or to change their order, they can contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org
There is a drop down box which asks what the query is they just need to request a refund and provide their ONLINE order ID which is contained in their confirmation email. Please note we cannot issue partial refunds but we can amend orders providing the dollar value is the same. So it maybe that we have to issue a full refund and they will have to pop back online place a fresh order.
We have a message on our website to give information to parents that maybe concerned about our practices and the following are the steps we are taking to ensure we are operating within the guidelines.
As the Prime Minster has issued a statement this week saying no schools will be closing we wish to reiterate that we are doing everything possible to keep the students and staff as well as our own staff as safe as possible.
For the duration of Covid-19, please be aware that all Kapture staff and most importantly our photographers are practicing all recommended safe practices. Our photography staff are using verbal queues and instructions in an effort to uphold our normally high standard of student presentation and photography. Students may be instructed by photographers to use single use sterile combs, wet wipes or tissues if required, without physically touching students.
Please be reassured that we are taking all precautions– as per the WHO guidelines in regards to hand washing, distance etc. And we won’t send a photographer to a school with any symptoms at all.
Parents with any questions or queries regarding school photos are asked to contact Kapture Photos direct (Ph. 92401714) or ring the school office.
I will continue to keep all families in our school community fully informed as new information and updates come through.
If parents have any questions on any of the points I have covered in this update or would like to discuss any other aspect to do with the way our school is responding to COVID-19, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
